Verdi, ZDS reach agreement after five rounds of negotiations
NewsThe German union Verdi and ZDS reached a new labour agreement for 11,500 North Sea port workers, pending a member vote.
Duisburger Hafen AG and chemicals shipper Rütgers Germany GmbH have founded a new 50:50 joint venture, Tarlog
The new company will develop third party logistics activities in Rütgers’ industrial park in Castrop-Rauxel in the Ruhr, around 40 kms east of Duisburg.
The joint venture bundles important areas of expertise of the two companies, said Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisport) in an official statement.
Duisport contributes its know-how in trimodal port management and operations and in marketing industrial and service space, while Rütgers provides its technological expertise and decades of experience in operating large chemical businesses.
Together the partners want to develop the area on the Rütgers site into an industrial location with a focus on logistics, chemicals, transport and energy.
“The joint venture represents another important building block in our logistics commitment to the Ruhr region and promotes intelligent transport and logistics concepts in the key chemical sector,” said Erich Staake, Duisport’s CEO.
Rütgers’ CEO, Henri Steinmetz, said: “Castrop-Rauxel is one of the most important locations in our worldwide network. Through this cooperation with Duisport we will further improve the efficiency and performance of the location.”
The Tarlog terminal will be a trimodal one, with connections to road, rail and waterway modes of transport. New companies locating at the site will also profit from the existing infrastructure facilities, including an energy centre, waste disposal, workshops and liquid and solid cargo ports on the Rhine-Herne canal.
At least 15 hectares of space are available for logistics and services. As well as developing chemical logistics in the industrial park, Tarlog will also operate plant logistics at the Castrop-Rauxel location.
