Sennebogen for steel handling in Brescia

News

Trailer SpA has acquired a Sennebogen 865 E hybrid crane to handle steel products at its rail terminal in Brescia in northern Italy

Trailer now relies on a material handler with a magnetic lifting beam that can easily handle steel items, including beams and wire rods, weighing around 7 tonnes.

About a year ago, Trailer took over operations at a rail terminal with five tracks. The machines in place, some aging crawler cranes and heavy duty forklifts, urgently needed to be replaced as the processes on site no longer performed quickly and safely enough.

Prior to the crane being delivered, steel products needed to be secured in a complicated procedure by chains and belts before being lifted. The magnet attachment completely eliminates the need to secure the load during the handling process. This saves manpower and time, and makes the daily work routine substantially safer for the operators.
