MSC to increase size gap, CMA CGM to surpass Maersk
NewsMSC is poised to increase size gap over CMA CGM, and Maersk will become the second-largest carrier; Hapag-Lloyd aims to maintain top-5 status.
On 30 November 2017, Maersk Line officially completed its transaction with Germany’s Oetker Group and took full control of Hamburg Süd. The deal took a year to conclude, as regulatory approval from 23 different jurisdictions from around the world was needed. These decisions have come with some conditions attached and the group will have to cut back on some services to/from South America.
