Saudi Arabia to develop logistics hub in Djibouti
NewsSaudi Arabia has signed a 92-year deal to develop a logistics city in Djibouti’s free trade zone to boost trade with Africa and attract Saudi investors.
Mawani’s Smart Ports initiative, launched in early 2022, accelerates fifth-generation technologies in logistics.
The Saudi Ports Authority, Mawani, introduced the Port Community System (PCS) under the “Logisti” framework, aiming to offer over 250 e-services at Saudi ports, bolstering the nation’s global logistics presence.
Omar Hariri, President of Mawani, emphasized the system’s use of technology to enhance maritime transport efficiency, streamline procedures, and foster the logistics sector.
PCS, launched during the LEAP24 conference, automates port operations, connects relevant entities for data exchange, and standardizes procedures, aligning with Smart Ports goals and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) under Saudi Vision 2030. The initiative aims to solidify the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.
