The welcome mat is out at Evergreen Group’s new southern Italian hub centre

TCT Taranto Container Terminal, Evergreen group’s new base port in the south of Italy, worked its first vessels at the end of June (WorldCargo News, July 2001, p8) and the managers are keen to promote its advantages to other shipping lines.

In the first two and a half months TCT handled more than 78,000 TEU and the forecast for the year is 240,000 TEU, rising to 500,000 TEU, of which transhipment moves are expected to account for some 90 per cent.
