Italian ports mostly run to stand still

Container traffic over Italian seaports was virtually static last year and most of the big terminals, that between them account for 60% of throughput, experienced a downturn.These results, summarised in the tables below, are in marked contrast to what is going on elsewhere in the Mediterranean (see last month’s World-Cargo News for review of Spanish container ports, for example), and also to recent trends in Italy itself.
