Smaller west coast ports play to their strengths

A slowing US economy, marked by a drop in house prices and excess vehicle inventories, not to mention higher fuel costs, is expected to help dampen container port congestion along the North American west coast (NAWC) this season. Most ports have completed container terminal build-outs, leaving only a few projects in motion – one being British Columbia’s Port of Prince Rupert where a new twoberth facility is under construction.
