Brazil’s ports have come on in leaps and bounds in recent years and are now “victims of their own success.” Since the port privatisation legislation in the early 1990s, most of the key terminals have been privatised and muchneeded investment has seen impressive productivity improvements. Terminals such as Santos Brasil and T-37 in Santos, Tecon Rio Grande and TCP in Paranaguá, are among the best in the region, and can even be ranked alongside the first tier of terminals in Europe or the US.
