Grindrod has revealed that Maputo container terminal is to be expanded to handle 400,000 TEU/year as part of its wider development of the Mozambican port. The terminal has capacity for 100,000 TEU/year and handled 80,000 TEU in 2007 but it is hoped that South African traders can be persuaded to make more use of the terminal now that rail links between Maputo and Johannesburg have been improved.
