A new barge feeder service has been launched connecting Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Jiuzhou), the busiest river port on the west bank of the Pearl River, and Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT), the largest export gateway in South China.
YICT and ZICT(J) are both members of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) Group. With the new Jiuzhou-Yantian Feeder Service, cargo from the western Pearl River Delta (PRD) can be transported directly to YICT by barge for export, further strengthening HPH’s service network in the region.
According to YICT, with the shifting of the manufacturing base to the western PRD, there is a growing demand for barge transportation to international container terminals for export. YICT has already expanded its feeder network to other cities in the PRD, including Zhongshan, Xiaolan, Shenwan, Shunde and Jiangmen.
“We provide customers with regular feeder services, which are very convenient for large batches of export cargo. Consignors also benefit from batch customs declaration and clearance. The Jiuzhou-Yantian Feeder Service is catered to serve manufacturers along the west bank of the Pearl River, providing them with a convenient, cost-effective and eco-friendly way of cargo transportation,” said Peter Yum, senior strategic marketing manager for YICT.
