More Liebherr cranes for Termont

News

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd has reported an order for one STS container crane and one RMG crane for Termont Montreal, Inc. This will be Liebherr’s first RMG in Canada and it is also automated

The new cranes will operate at Termont’s Viau Terminal, which opened in 2016 and quickly reached initial capacity. The new equipment will help lift capacity to 600,000 TEU. The cranes will join five Liebherr STS cranes and 11 Liebherr RTGs already in operation at Termont Montreal.

The STS crane is a twinlift model identical to previously supplied cranes, with an outreach of 48m, a backreach of 15.24m, a span of 18.29m and a lift height over rail of 33.5m.

The RMG is Liebherr’s first RMG sale in Canada and has a SWL of 65 tonnes under twinlift spreader. With a span of 36.6m, a lift height over rail of 18.5m and a single cantilever of 17m, the machine will stack containers 1 over 5 high. During quieter periods, it will carry out fully automated stack housekeeping. In the event of an exception, the RMG can be controlled via a remote operator.

To help comply with the strict environmental conditions at the port, the RMG features a “super quiet “machinery trolley with extensive sound dampening features.

Speaking about the order, Ray Cronin, Area Sales Manager, for Liebherr Container Cranes, commented: “We are delighted with this latest order from Termont, a partner with whom we have a long-standing and successful relationship.

“We are very proud to continue this partnership and to provide equipment that will drive productivity and allow us to continue providing service and support for decades to come.”
