Upgrade kits feature hardware and software updates for the CMS on older Konecranes yard cranes.
Konecranes is offering Do-it-Yourself (DIY) upgrade kits for the Crane Management System (CMS) on its older yard cranes. “Most Konecranes port cranes delivered between 2005 and 2018 will have computer components and software that is not only outdated, but no longer repairable because spare parts are out of manufacture,” Konecranes said.
The Konecranes CMS is a stand-alone computer application specifically designed for cranes. It gives access to crane status data and online monitoring of performance parameters, as well as historical data and documentation. The DIY kits offer customers the chance to bring older CMS systems up to the latest standards and specifications.
With every upgrade the old software application and database are transferred to the new operating system without any functional changes as standard. Standard hardware included in the kit is the latest version of the CMS computer and replacement cables. For older CMS systems a new capacitor-based UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) system is available, as well as a new keyboard and mouse. On the software side a Windows 10 upgrade is standard. For older CMS systems an updated Wonderware license is available.
The benefits to the customer of moving to a new CMS include availability of parts, a faster and more stable CMS, upgrading to Windows 10 and replacing the battery-based UPS with a new capacitor-based CMS, eliminating a common reason for CMS failures.
The upgrade kits are also suitable for Konecranes shipyard cranes and bulk handling cranes. Further information is available here.
