With support from the federal German government, Max Bögl will install a maglev test track for containers at the ITS World Congress in Hamburg next October
An overhead maglev Bögl Transport System (TSB) for passengers, manufactuered at Max Bögl’s main factory in Sengenthal, Germany, was shipped to the Chinese city of Chengdu last year and is operated on a 3.5 km long test track as a demonstrator for mass public transport for the future.
TSB is based on the maglev technology pioneered by Germnany’s Transrapid consortium, and Max Bögl supplied the track for the Transrapid train connecting Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Pudong city.
TSB is now being developed for cargo transportation, and the test track at ITS will be used as a demonstrator for the future of internal port transportation of containers, as an alternative to truck, rail or barge.
“With Transport System Bögl we have developed a new system for cargo transport in addition to passenger traffic,” said Stefan Bögl, chairman of the Munich-based Max Bögl Group. “It is an environment friendly and efficient solution, with speeds up to 150 km/h.” The development and trial activities are financially supported by the federal German government.
Pandemic permitting (!), the ITS World Congress will be held from October 11th-15th 2021. Some 15,000 trade visitors are expected and 400 exhibitors from 130 countries are expected to participate.
