Konecranes announced that every crane and lift truck within its extensive portfolio now comes equipped with a comprehensive array of digital services.

This includes the TRUCONNECT® Remote Monitoring system, designed to gather crucial usage data remotely, and CheckApp which facilitates daily inspections. The crane manufacturer added that users also gain access to the yourKONECRANES customer portal for detailed analysis of equipment condition and performance.

The integration of digital services enables real-time oversight of every asset in the fleet, irrespective of location, thus simplifying management and maintenance processes.

As businesses increasingly rely on digital infrastructure to store and process sensitive information, safeguarding this data against breaches, theft, or unauthorized access becomes imperative. Beyond protecting confidential client data and proprietary information, robust data security measures also shield companies from potential legal liabilities, financial losses, and reputational damage.

When approached by WorldCargo News for more information about the security of the data collected, its handling, and storing, Konecranes said that it has ISO/IEC 27001 certification for the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

The standard applies to the development and delivery of the yourKONECRANES.com customer portal, productivity enhancing mobile applications and TRUCONNECT® suite of remote service products and applications. Konecranes said the certification applies to all customers, including manufacturing and process industries, shipyards, ports, and terminals.

The company has also secured ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its global business applications and IT infrastructure, and TBA software, port planning and optimizing consultancy business.

“Regarding the security of the data collected, that falls under the umbrella of TRUCONNECT® suite of remote services. We are securing all data in transit with state of the art cryptography and other technologies. Data in rest is stored in the Konecranes data center and a secured cloud environment inside the European Union,” Konecranes explained.

“We have cybersecurity solutions in place at both premises to protect against cyber attacks, but in order to prevent the exact measures being known by potential attackers, we cannot publicly release details about what they are. The environments are under constant cybersecurity monitoring 24/7 with SLA for the incident response.”

As explained, all operational data from lift trucks, port cranes or shipyard cranes is collected and stored together, and can be accessed 24/7 to help plan maintenance and optimize asset deployment.

“Modern business is all about data. Full connectivity by default empowers Konecranes customers with a complete view of their equipment and the opportunity to use that information to build a data-driven digital ecosystem to streamline daily processes, maximize productivity and strengthen the impact of long-term business decisions,” says Mohammad Rahman, Digital Sales Manager, Port Services, Konecranes.

TRUCONNECT® Remote Monitoring collects data on safety alerts, fuel consumption, carbon emissions, battery performance and many other variables for near real-time diagnostics and technical support.

CheckApp is a mobile inspection tool that guides equipment operators through daily inspections using a phone or tablet.

Konecranes STORE synchronizes with customer equipment needs to facilitate spare parts ordering and minimize lead times.

The three services can be integrated into any customer system, the company said. Furthermore, Konecranes insists that it is the only supplier that can offer such a comprehensive range of port equipment together with maintenance programs and spare parts supported by onboard software and digital services.
