Imports steaming into San Pedro
NewsImport cargo into Los Angeles increased 18% in August as the number of vessel calls at the port reached a four-year peak.
Congestion has been increasing at Pacific Coast ports for most of the year and shippers are still waiting to see if port authorities, labour unions and transportation providers can come up with a solution. Because of an early onslaught of seasonal backto-school and holiday cargoes, container throughput has been pushed to the maximum at southern California ports, with record numbers being posted by both Los Angeles and Long Beach.
