News-in-print

A maintenance dredging programme in the Port of Rijeka being carried out by Transagent is due for completion this month. According to Antonio Passaro, the newly-appointed managing director of ICTSI affiliate Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), this will guarantee a depth of 11.7m at the main quay and ensure that ships deployed in Upper Adriatic trades can call without first having to handle Croatia o/d containers in Koper.

The plan is to order new RTGs next year and, as soon as the main quay extension project has been completed, two superpost-Panamax cranes will be ordered, while the existing post-Panamax Samsung crane will have its boom lengthened. An old RTG has been dismantled and sold to a local firm, Metis, for recycling.
