Conakry Terminal, a subsidiary of Bolloré Ports, has taken delivery of four more RTGs
The latest delivery of four 16-wheeler 40 tonne Konecranes RTGs increase the fleet of RTGs at the terminal to 12, following the first and second batches of four cranes received in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Entirely financed by Conakry Terminal in amount of GNF95.7M (€8.47M), including all taxes, the acquisition falls within the scope of the commitments made by Conakry Terminal under the concession agreement signed with the port authority (PA de Conakry). They are fitted with DGPS autosteering and automated position determination.
“Despite the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, Conakry Terminal is going ahead with its investment programme to support the development of the Guinean economy and provide its customers with world-class services in compliance with our contractual commitments,” said Emmanuel Masson, Managing Director of Conakry Terminal.
This is a difficult time for Conakry Terminal. Guinea’s trade prospects are uncertain following the military coup in September, which saw the overthrow of President Alpha Condé. In October, the coup’s leader, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, was sworn in as Guinea’s interim president, but there has been widespread condemnation of the coup and Doumbouya’s assumption of the presidency.
