Port of Providence (RI) operator Waterson Terminal Services, LLC and Seattle-based SSA Marine have established a joint venture to support bulk, breakbulk, automobile and offshore wind customers in New England

WTS is the sole port operator for ProvPort, Inc. a non-profit PPP that operates the ex-municipal Port of Providence, the second largest deep water port in New England, which has been instrumental in building up offshore wind developments along the Eastern Seaboard.

 

“We went through an extensive process to identify a strong partner that will help us achieve our strategic goals,” said Chris Waterson, General Manager of WTS, who will be named president and CEO of the JV as part of the transaction.

 

WTS also has operations in the ports of Davisville (RI) and New Bedford (Mass), which do not appear to be part ofd the deal.

 

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. It is expected to close by the end of this year.
